WHAT A BLOOMING GIVEAWAY!

The songs Paul McCartney has handed out for others to record

            Imagine being so loaded with great songs that even the ones you toss away for others to make free use of go to number one. Many a Paul McCartney "giveaway" has ended up being a big hit, and/or a veritable "signature tune" for the covering artist.
            Although their rate has slowed down since the Sixties, new songs do still crop up. The latest example can be found on 1 Dec's brand new album Mirror Minor, the first cut on which is 'Yvonne's The One', composed by Paul McCartney and Eric Stewart but never issued by Paul.
            The appearance of 'Yvonne's The One' (it's a lovely song, by the way) set us thinking. Just how many available songs has Paul had a hand in writing but not released himself?
            The answer, we think, is 55, and here they are.
