THE LITTLE CALENDAR THAT FOCUSES ON A BIG ISSUE

WAR CHILD Club Sandwich 72

As the present year runs its course and the new one dawns so our thoughts turn to Linda McCartney's annual seasonal production. This year she has produced a calendar and, as usual, proceeds will aid charity.
The latest beneficiary is War Child, a London-based organisation which aims to assist deprived children in Bosnia. (And which children is that God-forsaken country are not deprived?) Among other laudable projects, War Child regularly transports much-needed insulin, and has opened and is running the only bakery in Mostar so that the starving may at least receive their daily bread.
War Child recently held a fund-raising exhibition in London in which three members of the McCartney family had work represented: Paul with a piece of wood sculpture, Linda -with four photographs and daughter Heather with one of her pottery designs. Linda's four photographs have been included in the calendar, and ten of the twelve monthly images were also seen in another exhibition, Sun Prints and Platinum Prints, which opened in New Orleans (with Paul and Linda in attendance) on 21 October.
Linda McCartney's Little Calendar in aid of War Child 1995
(so called because of its size - it's spiral-bound to facilitate standing up on a desk) is on sale in selected UK stores, and is also available by mail order to Fun Club members through the latest Offers Sheet.

If you would like to support War Child, or require further information, contact War Child, 7/12 Greenland Street, London NW1 0ND. Telephone, within the UK, 0171-916 9276, fax 0171-916 9280.
