            As many of you will have seen in the Press, Paul and Linda made a lightning trip to New York on 19 January, where, that evening, at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel, Paul posthumously inducted John Lennon into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. His speech took the form of an open letter to John, reproduced opposite.

            Paul and Linda attended the London premiere of Wayne's World 2 on 28 January, and went on from there to a party at the Hard Rock Cafe. Both events benefited LIPA, Paul's Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts project, which is rapidly coming together and due to open next year. The McCartneys were presented with a cheque for £25,000 from the Hard Rock Cafe International Foundation, officially launching later this year, the aims of which are to aid musical education, environmental causes and human crises. The £25,000 was raised from the Hard Rock's sales of Linda's veggie burgers. The picture shows Paul and Linda with Wayne's World 2 star Mike Myers.
