Prince Charles. There have been four premieres in the last six months, including Back to the Future and Biggies. These help to fund residential camps, such as one held at Caister, Norfolk in April under the title of 'Work, Sport and Leisure'. The 350 young unemployed attending received advice on how to complete job application forms as well as sports tuition and coaching in the arts of street theatre. Ladbrokes provided their holiday camp free.
In an inspired move, the Trust asked all their committees to nominate five deserving recent applicants to receive free tickets to the tenth birthday concert. Let's hope they enjoyed themselves as much as Paul. After the show there was a party at the Ladbroke International Hotel, where
he and Linda had the chance of a relaxed chat with the Prince and Princess. Another thrill for Paul was meeting Kenny Dalglish, the Scottish footballer who's enjoyed such amazing success in his first season as manager of Liverpool.
Most importantly, the event raised more than £1 million for the Trust.
Those of us who didn't go saw what all the fuss was about when BBC2 TV showed highlights on Saturday 28th June. Don't despair, American viewers: Home Box Office will be showing it soon. An evening fit for a prince and enjoyed by the stars: who could ask for more?
Applications for grants should be sent to The Prince's Trust, 8 Bedford Row, London WO, from where they will be forwarded to your local committee.
